I think why the Metal Gear D and TX55 are different from the MGS's design cuz the canon designer are different. The MGS variant; REX, RAXA, AI weapons, Peace Walker, ZEKE, are all designed by the Emmerich family, and Granin. The 2 original one, TX55 and MG D, was designed by one Professor, Petrovich, or something. The guy is specialized in human robotics, eg, he fixed Raiden in MGS4, and the one that design tx55 and D, thus the organic looking design.
Heh, its kinda my personal quirk. I like to identify a design of a scifi origin, and if its a trans-generational setting like Star Wars, I like to make up an explanation of why is why and make it sound reasonable. Preferably after reading about the setting in a wikia thoroughly.
lol the new games do not mesh well with this stuff from the 80's. I just beat Peacewalker, which is supposed to be about 10-15 years before this, and the technology is way better. I look at this Metal Gear D and all i can think is "how come big boss didnt put a railgun on this like he did for Metal Gear Zeke?" lol its still cool though. very nice drawing.
Thanks a lot! and yeah you are absolutely right! I though exactly the same thing. I think Kojima and the team got carried away a bit with Peace Walker. I mean self aware A.I, metal gears that are way more advanced than stuff that suppose to come later, soliton radars BEFORE MGS.. I can continue on and on.. still one damn amazing game though!
Well considering that Huey and strangelove obviously don't stay with Big boss, maybe he lost a lot of his tech after they left MSF. and Kaz was a spy for zero, so maybe he screwed big boss over somehow and by the time MG 1 and 2 happened he didnt have much of his old tech left. thats my thoughts on it.
In my opinion they should think about making some remakes of the old MG games. If you actually play the games, Big Boss goes down a bit too easily (he can beat The Fury, but he can't stand up to a homemade flamethrower?) and there are some really weird things, like the poisonous hamsters. if they remade the old games they could make some epic fight scenes with Big Boss and snake, Snake and Grey fox, etc.
Hell yeah! I would love to see the re-makes of the old MGs! Played both of them long time ago but damn they were good games! If you think about it, there is nothing else for Kojima to do with MGS franchise except making re-makes,spin-offs and prequels. He finished MGS storyline with MGS4 to the point that it would be just plain dumb to continue from there. They are making Rising now with Raiden as a main and it is essentially a prequel/spin-off. Peace Walker is a prequel. They should really do a re-make of the old MGs since they've started telling Big Boss' backstory and should finish it by re-telling his downfall in MG & MG2. The games will come full circle then. If you think about what else can they do? I don't see any way they can continue from MGS4...
remakes of the old games would be so fun too. they could add a lot more of Big Boss's story in and his battle with the patriots. For example, I never played the old games, but i read that in MG2: Solid Snake, Miller helps Solid and actually calls Big Boss a "monster". When i read that i was stunned, because i was playing Peacewalker at the time and Kaz was his right hand man. but then i found out that Kaz was a Patriot spy and it made perfect sense. Remaking the old games could add more on how that friendship fell apart, to the point that Kaz would call Big Boss a monster.
Actually i think it could be possible to continue the Metal Gear Saga, just not with Solid Snake. Solid Snakes story is over, as is the rest of the boss and snakes stories. But in terms of the world, its a new beginning. Now that the Patriots are gone, the world is a blank slate. It was predicted that chaos would start now that the Patriots were destroyed and are no longer running things. I think Liquid Ocelot even said something in the final battle that was basically "this is not the end, its a new beginning Snake". So i think that the story could continue, just with a new main character. I don't know how you feel about Raiden, but i personally never hated him, and really liked his character. Raiden's story could continue after MGS4, depending on what Kojima wants to do. I like the idea of Raiden trying to protect the peace that snake fought for, and fighting to protect his new family.
Yeah I never truly hated Raiden in MGS2 though I was annoyed with him several times hahaha but then I was in line alongside every Raidemaniac when I saw how bad-ass he looked in MGS4 which was Kojima's genius plot to make people love Raiden. and it worked. I cant wait for Rising! and yeah you're right they could try to continue the story past MGS4. It could be all new MGS with sleeker gameplay and futuristic themes. Maybe we will see a teaser of sorts at the end of Rising. Did you know that Konami was hiring for a "next-gen Metal gear"?. So a new game is obviously in the works.
Sounds awesome! im looking forward to rising, but i don't have a PS3 or an Xbok, so unless that changes in the future, i wont be able to play it I got into Metal Gear really late, just recently, so i think thats why i don't really have any problems with Raiden. I didnt feel betrayed or annoyed by MGS2, i thought it was impressive that Kojima had the balls to screw with his fans like that, and the meta postmodern stuff (like raiden throwing away the name tag with your name on it) was really intriguing to me. the idea that raiden and the player start off as the same person and throwing away the dog tag is symbolic of Raiden becoming his own person. i read an extensive analysis of the game that is very interesting: [link]
I think a story continuing past MGS4 would be really cool, your right about the futuristic stuff they could do (imagine even more advanced metal gears/cyborg ninja stuff... ) and i would love to see Raiden given more focus and maybe even becoming a mentor figure to the next generation, like Snake was for him. Add in cameos of Snake living out his remaining years in peace and get a good kojima plot going and it could be a win. I think Rising is kind of a test in that regard, to see how raiden can do on his own and if the fans will accept him. After all, there are still a lot of Raiden haters out there that are dreading Rising. So, who knows? if Rising is sucsessful and popular, maybe it will happen.
...dammit. talking about this idea with you has made me want to see it happen. Now if it doesnt im gonna be forced to start writing fanfic or something lol.
yeah I can see what you mean about the sequel. it does sounds like a good opportunity the way you described it! Thanks for the link! I'll give it a read. no matter how many times I complete MGS2 I still find new things and story details! that game is HUGE! I have the official strategy guide and the easter eggs sections detailing all the hidden stuff Kojima stuffed into the game is over like 5-6 pages!!!
ow and Rising will be out for the PC as well so you'll probably will be able to play it Have you ever tried The Twin Snakes on GameCube? I have recently managed to run it on my PC as well through an emulator!
